Dr Hassan Ashmawy is a Urologist by profession having qualified at the university of Cairo. In the early 90's Dr Hassan immigrated to Bulawayo Zimbabwe where he soon became an integral part of the society there.

Shortly after arriving in Bulawayo he was inaugurated as the Mutawalli (Chairman) at the Jamiah Masjid (the main Masjid in the city). He nourished the Jamaat (Community) to its maturity with his spiritual guidance, prayers, tears and toil. Not only did he fortify the Jamaat but he expanded the structure of the Jamaat with various schemes such as founding the Islamic Medical Association of Zimbabwe under which Al Shifa clinics, which cater for the less-privileged nationwide. The Initiation of this organisation and programmes, such as the Seerah series, initiated the task of spreading the message of true Islam in its pristine purity to the ends of the world. His acute intelligence, keen intellect, deep and extensive knowledge allowed him to produce the vast corpus of writings, speeches etc.
